How To Use The Reading View In Internet Explorer For Windows Phone

Windows Phone's web browser has many useful features which make navigation on the web faster and easier. One of those features is the Reading View which regenerates web pages without ads, menus and blocks that have nothing to do with the content of the page. Some articles are really hard to read because they have too many ads. Others are just not optimized for mobile reading. In situations like these, the Reading View makes reading on the web a much better experience. Here's how to enable the Reading Viewin Internet Explorer for Windows Phone and how to customize it in order to make your reading experience as pleasant as possible. Let's get started:

How To Enable The Reading View In Internet Explorer

First, visit a website or blog and open an article or a blog post. Scroll through the article and the Reading View button is shown on the right side of the address bar, at the bottom of the Internet Explorer window.

Pressing the button will cause your webpage to be displayed in a customizable easy-to-read format.

The Reading View also works in landscape mode.

Try it out for yourself.

NOTE: After using it for a while, you will notice that the Reading View isn't available for every web page. For example, it will not be available on pages with video. The page needs to have a significant amount of text in a language supported by Internet Explorer.

How To Customize The Reading View For Windows Phone

As we said earlier, the Reading View is customizable, but you can't change the reading options if the Reading View is enabled for the web page that you are currently viewing.

First, press the More button on the bottom of the Internet Explorer window.

Next, tap Settings in the contextual menu that is shown.

The Internet Explorer settings screen is shown. Scroll down and tap Advanced Settings, placed at the bottom of the screen.

Next, scroll down until you find the settings related to the Reading View. You can modify the Reading view font size and the Reading view style.

You have 4 options for the Reading view font size and you can choose one of them using the slider. For the Reading view style you have another 4 options: bright, medium, light and dark. All your changes will be shown in the Reading view preview box.

Your new settings will apply automatically. Go back and enable the Reading view for any web page to see how it works using your settings.
